Conferences are here again. Click HERE to access the conference scheduler. Remember, there is no school on either Wednesday or Thursday so any time that you are available to come in with your child is a good time for a visit. Sign up early to ensure the time of your choosing. Friday is a 1/2 day. We look forward to seeing you on March 24th or 25th. A reminder will be sent home with your child on Monday, March 22nd.

With the end of first semester fast approaching, any unfixed or missing assignments will soon be too late to make up. Starting Thursday, January 14th, and all Thursdays until further notice, I will be available to help with homework (all subjects) from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Mrs. Collins is also graciously donating her time to help those in need. Please come with the materials necessary to work; with the limited time we will not be tracking down assignments. Homework help is open to all current and former students (6th – 9th) of the Gateway program. It is voluntary and rides will be the responsibility of those attending. Those signed up for Stepping Stone may join the program at 4:00 and ride the activity bus. I look forward to seeing you after school!

Thanks to all of you, parents, students, and Mrs. Collins for the hard work and time you put into the student-led conferences. I think you all did a great job and it was nice meeting new people as well as seeing all those familiar faces from last year. Keep up the good work, shoot for those goals and we will do it again in the Spring.

A big congratulations to all you sixth graders out there who enjoyed ice cream sundaes just before Thanksgiving Break. 85% of the Gateway sixth graders passed the multiplication test with 90% or better. Way to go! Now it is on to division

It is that time of year again. Student-led conferences will be held at the middle school on Monday, November 23, Tuesday, November 24, and Wednesday, November 25. There are three different ways to sign up for a Gateway conference.
- Online: click CONFERENCE SCHEDULER
- Sending back the form passed out on Nov. 10, with at least 3 options circled – your time will be assigned.
- Calling Kayanne Harper at 464-5806 to schedule
Remember, you must sign up for a time when parent/child can be together. There is no school for students on Tuesday, or Wednesday but Monday is a regular school day and students can be pulled from class for the conference.

Your email account has been activiated! As discussed in class, you need to remember to use it in a fitting manner and what is, and is not, acceptable. Both the District and I reserve the right to delete your account should we feel it is being used inappropriately. The link to the district mail is under “links” on the right side of the page. You will find your student-led conference, PowerPoint template, in your inbox.

Please visit the multi-media page and look at the new slides created by the 8th graders. They used both their math and computer skills to create Power-Point slides explaining subtraction of integers. You may give constructive feedback at the bottom of the page and let them know which slide has the best explanation and which has the best layout for easy reading.

The end of the quarter is fast approaching. Only three weeks left and we are already 1/4 of the way through the year. All assignments from the second half of the quarter must be fixed, finished and turned in by the 29th to receive credit. After that day’s math class, zero’s will be permanent. Only assignments from the second half (after midterm grades) are still being accepted.
We will begin working on student-led conference presentations shortly and look forward to sharing math successes with everyone in November.
Check the grade level pages for Jog-a-Thon pictures.
